A Bit About Shotcrete

Shotcrete, or otherwise known as gunite, is a process of spraying concrete to form structures using a pneumatic hose. This is possibly by mixing the concrete such that the moisture content is low. Shotcrete is typically combined with steel rods or meshes to create strong structures.

Due to the nature of shotcrete, it can be used in a variety of conditions where typical concrete forms would be difficult or impossible. Shotcrete also has an added benefit of being very sculptable. The surfaces created with this material can be sculpted into different textures that can be both artistic or realistic.

A primary use for shotcrete is to reinforce slopes and walls.
These slopes and walls typically also use steel reinforcement in conjunction with sprayed concrete to make a tremendously stable structure. Shotcrete can be used to create a variety of different structures that include steps, pools, roofs, overhead arches, and much more.

Architectural Shotcrete

After the engineering and construction of walls, many owners go a step further in the appearance of the wall. Sculpted Shotcrete is one of many choices.

Nebraska Stabilization Services Offered:

  • Shotcrete - A process where low-humidity cement is sprayed through a high-pressure nozzle in order to form common structures such as walls, roofs, and stairs. Sprayed concrete can be left alone or shaped, molded , and textured. Shotcrete is often combined with many other stabilization techniques listed here as needed.
  • Rock-bolting - A general support and stabilization technique where large anchors are inserted deep into a rock.
  • Micropiles - High tensile-strength, threaded steel rods which are fit into the earth during or after drilling.
  • Soil-nailing - Steel bars placed into the earth using special machinery to place them at specific calculated angles.
  • Tiebacks - A type of anchoring technique for stabilization and support.
  • Slope failure, analysis, and cure - We can assess points of failure and suggest and implement stabilization methods for safe and secure structures.

Our Nebraska installation operations services also include:

  • Piezometer installation - Typically for measuring liquid pressure.
  • Inclinometer installation - For accurate monitoring of a shoring face.
  • Grouting performance and installation
