As a close neighbor to Colorado, New Mexico is an ideal location for Thorcon Shotcrete and Shoring to do business. The semi-arid and mountainous terrain in New Mexico is very similar to our Colorado location. This similarity in climate ensures there are no challenges we have not faced in our home state. Due to close proximity, we can have our crew and resources to relocated quickly to complete any job no matter the challenge or size.

A Bit About Shotcrete

Shotcrete, or otherwise known as gunite, is a process of spraying concrete to form structures using a pneumatic hose. This is possibly by mixing the concrete such that the moisture content is low. Shotcrete is typically combined with steel rods or meshes to create strong structures.

Due to the nature of shotcrete, it can be used in a variety of conditions where typical concrete forms would be difficult or impossible. Shotcrete also has an added benefit of being very sculptable. The surfaces created with this material can be sculpted into different textures that can be both artistic or realistic.

A primary use for shotcrete is to reinforce slopes and walls.
These slopes and walls typically also use steel reinforcement in conjunction with sprayed concrete to make a tremendously stable structure. Shotcrete can be used to create a variety of different structures that include steps, pools, roofs, overhead arches, and much more.

Shotcrete

Shotcrete is a new leader in functional and creative construction for endless possibilities.

Rock and Soil Stabilization

Rock and Soil Stabilization through a design-build approach can deliver the essential shoring requirements for your project.

Infrastructure Repair

Offering economical solutions to pipelines, bridges and roads that are low impact to the public.

Renewable Energy

Focusing on foundation elements for Solar, Wind, and Water that has evolved into site specific design-build applications.

Architectural Shotcrete

After the engineering and construction of walls, many owners go a step further in the appearance of the wall. Sculpted Shotcrete is one of many choices.

New Mexico Stabilization Services Offered:

  • Shotcrete - A process of spraying concrete onto common forms or stabilized structures such as walls, slopes, pools, and much more.
  • Soil-nailing - Steel bars inserted into the earth using special machinery and installed at an optimum angle for support and stability.
  • Micropiles - Threaded steel rods that are embedded in the earth during or after drilling to achieve stability and support.
  • Tiebacks - Another versatile anchor type the uses on pressure from both ends of a steel rod for stabilization.
  • Rock-bolting - A Support and stabilization technique where large anchors are inserted deep into a rock.
  • Slope failure, analysis, and cure - As well as construct stable structures, we can survey, diagnose, and mend problems with slopes.

Our New Mexico installation operations services also include:

  • Piezometer installation - For monitoring liquid pressure, often invaluable for failure analysis over time.
  • Inclinometer installation - For accurate measuring of a shoring face and can help monitor degradation.
  • Grouting performance and installation
