Utah is a great place for Thorcon Shotcrete and Shoring to do business. Due to how close it to our home location in Colorado the climate is very similar and we can get there quickly. Since the climate and soil in Utah are very similar to much of Colorado, there won't be any surprises we have not already incurred. Thorcon has over 40 years of experience creating any structure from sculpted walls to water inlets. See our gallery for our large and continually growing list of projects across the Midwest region in our gallery.

A Bit About Shotcrete

Shotcrete, or otherwise known as gunite, is a process of spraying concrete to form structures using a pneumatic hose. This is possibly by mixing the concrete such that the moisture content is low. Shotcrete is typically combined with steel rods or meshes to create strong structures.

Due to the nature of shotcrete, it can be used in a variety of conditions where typical concrete forms would be difficult or impossible. Shotcrete also has an added benefit of being very sculptable. The surfaces created with this material can be sculpted into different textures that can be both artistic or realistic.

A primary use for shotcrete is to reinforce slopes and walls.
These slopes and walls typically also use steel reinforcement in conjunction with sprayed concrete to make a tremendously stable structure. Shotcrete can be used to create a variety of different structures that include steps, pools, roofs, overhead arches, and much more.

Rock and Soil Stabilization through a design-build approach can deliver the essential shoring requirements for your project.

Infrastructure Repair

Offering economical solutions to pipelines, bridges and roads that are low impact to the public.

Renewable Energy

Focusing on foundation elements for Solar, Wind, and Water that has evolved into site specific design-build applications.

Architectural Shotcrete

After the engineering and construction of walls, many owners go a step further in the appearance of the wall. Sculpted Shotcrete is one of many choices.

Utah Stabilization Services Offered:

  • Shotcrete - A process of spraying damp cement onto a surface or shaped structure to create walls, floors, rooftops, and any other structure imaginable. Often shotcrete is combined with the other services listed here to provide more structure stability and support.
  • Micropiles - High tensile-strength, threaded rods that are placed in the ground while drilling and after.
  • Rock-bolting - An anchoring technique where large anchors are placed deep into a rock surface.
  • Soil-nailing - Threaded inserts that are placed into the earth and installed at an optimum angle for support and stability.
  • Tiebacks - Another versatile anchor type the uses on pressure from both ends of a steel rod for stabilization. Often used for retaining wall support.

Our Utah installation operations services also include:

  • Slope failure analysis and cure - Our engineering team can analyze slopes and structures for failure and come up with a diagnosis and treatment.
  • Inclinometer installation - Useful for monitoring structures and determining changes in tilt.
  • Piezometer installation - Useful for monitoring pressures, such as water pressure. Helpful for monitoring degradation over time.
  • Grouting performance and installation
